Most areas of Basirhat have been virtually devastated by the cyclone Amphan. Many areas of Sandeshkhali and Hingalganj are still under water. In this situation, the Transport Minister visited the affected Basirhat on Thursday along with Sandeshkhali MLA Sukumar Mahato, North 24 Parganas District Council member Shivprasad Hazra and officials of the Irrigation Department. He landed at Sarberia football ground in Sandeshkhali by helicopter this morning. From there he went to Dhamakhali by road. He climbed on the launch and inspected the work of dams in different areas including kalagachi. He also spoke with the affected people and assured them of all the necessary actions to make situation normal.
