The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has roped in actor-politician Jaya Bachchan to campaign for its candidates and establish connection with women voters for the ongoing West Bengal assembly polls.
The Samajwadi Party (SP) MP landed at the Kolkata airport on Sunday evening ahead of her scheduled programmes from April 5 to 8. She is also likely to share the stage with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on one of the days of her stay in Kolkata.
On Monday, Jaya Bachchan will campaign for TMC's Tollygunge candidate and MLA Arup Biswas who is pitted against BJP's Babul Supriyo.
Supriyo is a two time MP and is confident his singer tag will help to establish a connection with the Tollygunge film fraternity.
