Moscow 06-07-2021: Hours after a Russian AN-26 airplane with 28 people on board had gone missing in the Kamchatka peninsula in Russia’s far east, emergency services have said that the plane crashed into the sea, reported RIA news agency on Tuesday. The news agency further added that several ships were on the way to the crash site. The plane had been en route to the village of Palana, near the Okhotsk Sea coast and it reportedly lost contact with air traffic control while attempting to land.
Earlier, the regional department of the Emergencies Ministry said, “In the afternoon of July 6, the duty shift of the crisis management centre of the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s Main Directorate in the Kamchatka Territory received information that the An-26 aircraft, on a passenger flight from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to Palana, did not get in touch at the specified time.”
