In a major push toward administrative transparency, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced a series of public safety and police reform initiatives during an address at the state police headquarters in Bhawani Bhawan. Central to the announcement is a dedicated toll-free helpline operating from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, designed to give citizens a direct line to report bribery, illegal tolls, bootlegging, and syndicate extortion.
Alongside the helpline, the Chief Minister outlined key institutional updates, including the establishment of an independent state investigative agency, major recruitment initiatives, and enhanced personnel welfare programs. Adhikari emphasized that while the government is committed to clamping down on corruption, the grievance system must not be abused to settle private disputes.
