The second wave of the novel corornavirus has wreaked havoc across the nation. On a daily basis, the positive cases are on the rise even though the numbers vary from state to state. Talking about the plight of Kolkata, it touched a new low as a total of 997 cases, its highest single-day spike in the second wave.
Further, it also crossed the maximum the city had reported on a single day during the first wave in 2020, when the number was 931 cases on October 31. Thus, the rapid rise is glaring and protocols remain a must. Healthcare experts had been apprehensive of an exponential rise in the city, especially during the elections.
