Big Political Shift Ahead of WB Assembly Elections 2026: Netaji’s Grandson Chandra Kumar Bose Joins TMC

In a dramatic turn of events just weeks before the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, Chandra Kumar Bose, the grandnephew of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, has officially joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
On Sunday afternoon, Bose was welcomed at the TMC headquarters by outgoing state minister Bratya Basu and MP Kirti Azad. He formally accepted the party flag, marking his departure from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Why the Exit from BJP?

Bose revealed that his disenchantment with the BJP began after he was summoned for an SIR (Summary Inquiry Report) hearing earlier this year. He expressed outrage at being asked to prove his citizenship despite being Netaji’s descendant. “Is it possible that the grandson of a national hero like Netaji should have to prove his citizenship?” he asked publicly, sparking widespread debate.

Although the Election Commission later clarified that the notice was due to incomplete information in his enumeration form, the incident left Bose deeply disillusioned.
