9 arrested from Coch Bihar with huge amount of fake currency notes and gold : police investigating terrorist links

According to sources, the group of 9 people had planned to go to Assam from Alipurduar via Falakata. After receiving information from undercover sources, a team of SSB along with the police of Kotwali police station of Cooch Behar conducted an operation on Monday night. Police and jawans chased the two bikes and stopped them near Dawaguri on the border. A car was also stopped. In all, the police arrested 9 people in handcuffs. 18 gold biscuits weighing about 1 kg 200 grams were recovered. The vehicles were seized and more than 1 crore 36 lakh counterfeit notes (Fake Currency), all of 2000 and 500 rupees were recovered. Lots of mobiles were also found. Investigators believe that the vehicles were being smuggled in Assam as they had Assam number plates on them. The search is on for other members of this group.
