The orders by Oberoi came hours after three civil service aspirants died after the basement of a building housing a coaching centre was flooded following heavy rain in central Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar (ORN) area.
In a statement, Oberoi said that coaching centres that have been doing commercial activities in basements violate the building bylaws and are not as per norms."Strict action should be taken against them immediately," she said in a statement.Shelly Oberoi also instructed the MCD officials to launch an immediate inquiry to identify if any civic body officers were responsible for the incident." (An) Immediate enquiry to (be) conducted to identify if any officers of MCD are responsible for this tragedy. If any official is found guilty, the strongest possible action will be taken against them, under intimation to the undersigned," she said in her statement.
