Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari Leads Protest March Over Golpark Violence; Submits Deputation

KOLKATA, 05th Feb ’26 — Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, spearheaded a fervent protest march today, condemning the recent outbreak of violence in the Golpark area.

The rally was organized in response to the unrest that rocked the locality last Sunday, which reportedly involved shooting and hurling of crude bombs. The opposition has directly blamed the ruling party for the incident, alleging that the violence was orchestrated by Trinamool Congress (TMC) associate Sona Pappu and his gang.
Key Highlights of the Protest:
The Route: The protest march began in Dhakuria, moving through the streets of South Kolkata, and culminated at the Rabindra Sarobar Police Station.
The Demand: Upon reaching the station, Mr. Adhikari and his delegation submitted a formal deputation to the police officials. They demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and stricter law enforcement in the area to prevent further violence.

Speaking on the issue, the BJP leadership highlighted the incident as a glaring failure of law and order, accusing the administration of shielding "miscreants" aligned with the ruling party. The police have accepted the deputation, though the investigation into Sunday's bombing and shooting incident is ongoing.
